This route - 83 miles, 134 kilometres

At a mere 83 miles this route may appear to be not up to the challenge.

Initially it’s gentle roads, tempting you with sites on either side as they lead you into the town of Dumfries. If you so wish, you can explore the sites but beware, the street signs can be tricky when finding your way back.

From this point on, the route begins to reveal why it has earned your company. Your navigational skills will be tried and tested as the narrow farm lanes unfold. By following the guide you’ll be given the opportunity to observe why The Dumfries and Galloway region is such a visitor’s gem. Beautiful rolling hills cut by the meandering lanes turn this route into a bikers dream.

Traffic after Dumfries is minimal although there is always the never-ending concern for our fellow friends, the sheep and of course the helmet attracting pheasant.

Thanks to The Buccleuch Arms Hotel, Moffat for providing this route.
